Jobs

There are many different and powerful organisations within the city. The majors ones are, The King's Court, The Queen's Court, the Chatelet, the Hotel de Ville. If you wish to apply for a job, type APPLY FOR (the job you want)

If the position is not already filled, your application will be filed. There may be social level requirements for any given position, and if you do not meet these requirements then you will not be able to apply for the position. Each position has a set number of favour levels required which must be expended in order that you might apply. Be aware when applying for a job that you may not be the only applicant. You will usually have no way of knowing who you are up against on that particular day for that particular position (unless you happen to know someone on the inside who is kind enough to pass out such information). For this reason you can RAISE (your name) (the job you have applied) . This will cause you to hand in further FAVOURS to lend you weight in your application for the job. Each job has a waiting period of 3 real days after the date of the FIRST applicant. If you are a second of subsequent applicant, the period will almost certainly be less. You may type APPLIED at any time to see those jobs which you have applied for, and how many favour levels you have used. The applicant with the MOST favour levels will be appointed.

You may type VACANCIES to see a list of positions that have openings for one such as yourself, you may additionally supply an organisation name (eg Hotel de Ville) to list just their vacancies.

Challenging someone already in a position.

In many cases the position you are seeking will already be fulled to capacity, and there will be no room for you to make an application. In which case you may choose to CHALLENGE (person) FOR (the postion you want)

You will then enter a subsystem, and enter a short message detailing why you think you are more suited for the position than the person you are challenging. You will also be asked how many favour levels you wish to expend in the challenge. Your competitor will then have one real week to respond to your challenge, and if he does not submit his own favours to the sum of half the favour levels you submitted in the challenge, he or she will be ousted from the position and you will take their place. The challenger is disadvantaged in this because every favour level the defendant expends is equal to TWO favour levels of the challenger. This is because the challenger must spend TWICE the number of favour levels of the defendant in order to assume the position.
